About the author

Hi, my name is Matteo. I am Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Deakin University, and Senior Research Fellow at the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation.

My major area of expertise is the study of extremism and hate, with a main focus on the empirical evaluation of prevention and reduction programs. I have experience in researching violence against immigrants and religious out-groups, and the online propaganda of extremist and violent political groups. I have a good working knowledge of quantitative research, experimental methods and mixed-methods research approaches.
